BOARD OF EDUCATION SELF-EVALUATION

The performance of the Board of Education directly affects the operation of the ________ School District. Evaluation is a tool to improve performance and effectiveness.

The Board will develop and implement a confidential process to annually self-evaluate its performance. The goal of self-evaluation will be to help the Board determine its strengths and weaknesses. Using the results of the self-evaluation, the Board will make changes to improve its performance.

The Board will review periodically the self-evaluation document and its procedures. Changes in the document and the procedures will be made as needed.

Procedures:

1. The Board and Superintendent will review the self-evaluation document and procedures at the September workshop meeting.

2. Each Board member will independently complete the self-evaluation document prior to the October workshop meeting and provide copies to other Board members at the October workshop meeting.

3. The Board will meet in executive session and complete a composite Board self-evaluation at the November workshop meeting.

4. The Board will use the results of the self-evaluation to develop specific steps to strengthen its performance.
